The Speed School Tablet PC program began in Fall 2006 when it was formally announced. However, it didn't become mandatory that incoming students purchase Tablet PCs until Fall 2007.

For students entering Speed School for the Fall of 2009 semester are recommended to purchase the HP EliteBook 2730P through the University of Louisville.
